Training

MVRMA now sponsors at least (16) sixteen training seminars of general interest to the membership each calendar year.  Funds are allocated in the budget so that professional management consultants, risk managers, attorneys and others knowledgeable in the risk management field may be engaged to assist or present the material.  Topics for these seminars may be selected as a result of member surveys, SPEC evaluations, regulation changes, or any other expressed need of the membership.

MVRMA has purchased several CD-Rom training programs which enable the Loss Control Manager to present seminars on such topics as:

Trenching and Shoring
Bloodborne Pathogens
Safety Orientation
Electrical Safety
Fire Safety
Personal Protective Equipment
Hazard Communication
Forklift Safety

These seminars are generally open to all MVRMA members and are frequently held in cooperation with members of the Miami Valley Cable Council.  However, an exclusive presentation could be arranged for any member city with a substantial number of participants.  These training sessions have been well received and generally well attended.  MVRMA will continue to purchase additional programs as they become available.

MVRMA also has two Heavy Vehicle Drivers Training Programs, one for “Fire & EMT Emergency Equipment” and another for “Streets and Public Works.”  Each program combines classroom instruction with on-the-road experience.  Any member city with access to a parking lot large enough to accommodate the course may schedule this training with the Loss Control Manager.
