Disposal of Surplus Property Policy

Purpose


At various times, equipment or furniture owned by MVRMA may be designated as surplus. This policy has been established to regulate the disposition of that surplus MVRMA property.

Policy Statement

On at least an annual basis, there shall be an inventory of all equipment and furniture owned by MVRMA.  Following the annual inventory, the MVRMA Executive Director may designate equipment or furniture items as surplus.  Individual surplus items may be disposed of at the discretion of the Executive Director.  Property valued at more than $500 shall be advertised in Risky Business and sold to the member city or individual returning the highest sealed bid that meets the specifications in the ad.  Bid specifications shall include a minimum bid and final bid acceptance date.  If this process is unsuccessful, the surplus property will be advertised and sold through online auction sites or may be donated or disposed of at the discretion of the Executive Director.
